Get-together weekend:
Our 2006 Get-together weekend took place in Halifax on Saturday and Sunday 28/29th October.
We were very grateful to Andrew Mitchell and members of the church for making all the arrangements and looking after us so well.
Around 45 members attended on the Saturday which began with a massed band rehearsal.
Following lunch, band members made their way into Bradford city centre for an hour's 10-pin bowling. The Association AGM (see report below) also took place during the afternoon.
Following the evening meal at Boothtown Methodist Church, the band gave an excellent concert.

Many members stayed overnight and joined in the morning service, playing for the hymns.
All in all, a hectic but successful weekend enjoyed by all those taking part.

2006 AGM brief report:
The full minutes of the meeting are being circulated to members. A brief account of discussions and plans for the future are detailed below:
Membership and subs:
Full band membership remains for BB/GB bands at £20.00 (but will not be collected this year). Only full band members will have voting rights.
Associate membership (for those individuals interested in supporting the Association) rises to £5.00 and will be due this year.
An additional category of Affiliated band membership will be introduced for any non BB/GB band that has a direct Brigade link and who would like to take an active part in Association events. This membership will be £15.00 per year, be due this year and each band will receive a complimentary CD.
CD sales:
Association CDs will now be reduced to £5.00 (plus 80p p&p).
Natbrass News:
It was decided to cease production of this magazine and concentrate on improving the web site as the main channel for publicity and information.
Uniform:
Ideas were discussed for uniform dress for Association national band public performances. It was decided to investigate options of a white shirt and Association tie, to be worn with black shoes, black socks/tights, black trousers/skirts. Some form of subtle differentiation to be made for registered leaders for safety/security reasons. Once investigated, options will be circulated to members for comment.
Appointments for 2007
As the Secretary, Assistant Secretary and President all wished to retire from office at the 2007 AGM, thought was given to filling these posts next year.
It was decided to circulate the membership with ‘job descriptions’ of the role undertaken by the present Secretary, split into Administrator, Treasurer, Musical Director and Web Site Editor.
Nominations/volunteers would be sought and discussed by members prior to next year’s AGM with a view to appointing suitable candidates then. It was agreed that it would be an essential requirement of the new post holders to liaise with each other on a very regular basis. Each post holder would be able to co-opt additional help, for example, to assist in running specific events during the year, to share conducting at events, to help organise music, etc. Additionally, nominations for a new President are required.
All nominations/suggestions should be sent to the Secretary by 31 March 2007. Click here for details of the posts to be filled.
Activities in 2007
Music Festival (Saturday 17 March)
The Association’s first Music Festival for bands and individual players will take place in the spring of 2007. This will be held in Chandlers Ford and all members are invited to participate. If successful, it is hoped that this event may be arranged in other parts of the country in future. Information has been circulated to members – click here for details.
Legoland (Summer 2007)
The Secretary was asked to make enquiries in the Spring about another massed band performance at Legoland during Summer 2007. In case this was not possible, bands were asked to forward ideas for alternative venues to the Secretary.
Get-together weekend (Autumn 2007)
It was agreed that our next Get-together and AGM weekend should be a slightly different format to this year (to ring the changes). Ideas were required, to be sent to the Secretary by the end of this year.
